What is a Hernia?
A hernia is when something (like intestine or fat) pushes through a hole in the muscle.
Hernias are very common, with over 200,000 diagnosed in the United States every year!
Some hernias cause no symptoms at all; others may cause bulging, swelling, and occasionally pain.
Common types of hernias- inguinal, umbilical, ventral/incisional and hiatal.
The treatment for hernias is often surgical.
