Is an Umbilical Hernia Dangerous in Adults?

If an umbilical hernia is not repaired, it may increase in size and cause pain.
If the intestine is squeezed (that is, “strangulated”) in the hernia pouch, oftentimes pain, vomiting will occur and you will require immediate operation to repair the hernia.
Because umbilical hernias can be life-threatening, it is typically suggested that these hernias be repaired in adults.
